Abstract

This study presents a comparative analysis of syntax in Urdu and English, focusing on sentence structure and grammatical rules. By examining key syntactic features such as sentence order, verb conjugation, agreement in gender and number, and the formation of questions and negations, the research highlights both similarities and differences between the two languages. Using a qualitative methodology, the analysis draws on existing literature and authentic language samples to explore how these syntactic variations impact effective communication and language acquisition. The findings reveal significant structural distinctions, particularly in sentence order (SOV in Urdu versus SVO in English) and agreement mechanisms, which pose specific challenges for learners transitioning between the languages. The study underscores the importance of understanding these syntactic frameworks in enhancing language teaching strategies and offers suggestions for further research in the field of syntax.
